Clarity, or API Trading as it was initially called, was established by David Adams in 2002. But our heritage in the industry extends much further back and in 2013 we are proud to be celebrating 80 years since the Adams family started out in the waste & recycling industry.
Where it all began
Managing Director, David Adams’ great-grandmother, grandfather and great-uncle established the family transport business in 1933.
John Adams, David’s father and a Director of Clarity, later joined the company and it grew rapidly, going on to become one of the largest family-owned waste disposal companies in the UK. The company’s services included hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, as well as the operation of toxic waste landfill sites.
After many successful years, the family business was later sold and in 1999 John Adams became one of the first independent brokers of P(E)RNS.
After spending some years working in the IT industry, David Adams established Clarity in 2002. Previously known as API trading, the business was initially set up for the sale of P(E)RNS. But over the years, the company experienced substantial and rapid growth and has evolved into a multi-discipline business.
In 2009, API Trading was re-branded as Clarity Environmental, with a relocation to offices in Woodingdean Business Park to accommodate a growing team.
Alongside our popular compliance schemes and PRN trading division, Clarity now offers a range of waste management and recycling services. We also trade in lead acid batteries and materials, as well as buying scrap catalytic converters.
